Nel 1693 un violentissimo terremoto rase al suolo la città di Noto Antica. La Cava Carosello, situata a ovest di questo fiorente abitato, rappresentava il suo cuore economico. Il fiume Asinaro, che scorre lento sul fondo di questa valle, ha alimentato per secoli concerie rupestri e mulini ad acqua ivi presenti. Al termine del percorso si giunge dinanzi ad una marmitta carsica, altro non è che un incantevole laghetto pensile con vista panoramica mozzafiato, chiamato "Uruvu Tunnu" in dialetto siciliano.

In 1693 a violent earthquake destroyed the ancient town of Noto. The Carosello Valley, located west of this thriving town, represented the economic heart of the area. The Asinaro slow-flowing river at the bottom of this valley has fueled for centuries its tanneries and mills water. At the end of the path, you will reach an enchanting lake with a unique panoramic view, also called "Uruvu Tunnu" in Sicilian dialect.
